We always said, styled shoots are nothing we would really enjoy doing with unkitschig, as our focus always was and still is, to capture natural moments in a documentary kind of way. A styled shoot involves a lot of planning, there’s a lot of organisation needed and it’s something more “posed” than what we are used to.But it always comes a little different than you think...
Our dear friend and talented hair stlyist and makeup artist Macarena Torres however came up to us with the idea of doing a styled shoot.
She was working on her wedding-makeup portfolio and needed some new photos for it. Her vision was clear, she wanted to create something natural but also outstanding.
After Covid and several lockdowns crossed our plans a few times, we then finally made it happen in may 2021.
We used the lockdown to create a moodboard, we came up with all our ideas and had a clear vision.
After posting on social media, that we were looking for humans who are interested in joinning, we were flooded with messages by the most
amazing people. We then picked out the people we wanted to work with, which was one of the hardest parts of planning this shoot.
There were so many amazing individuals who wanted to join us in this project. However due to time and covid restrictions, we could only pick six.
For us this was the perfect constellation to deliver our vision.
All about the dress(es)
We got in touch with a family run Viennese Wedding Dress designer, who was ready to help us out and lend us some of her pieces.
We decided to stick to the more minimalistic and straight styles she had to offer, as this matched best with what we had in mind.
It was such an honour and such a nice experience, because Katharina, the designer, was totally hooked and loved our idea and vision.
Ready, set, go!
Finally the day came and we moved into Y.lab for the day with all our dresses, fabrics, camera gear, makeup etc.
For our idea, Y.lab was the perfect location choice, it’s generous rooms and huge windows gave us the room and light we needed for this shoot.
Lovely Manuela prepared fresh and delicious vegan food for us, for some energy to get through the day.
For styling Macarena used the products from sebastian professional who kindly also offered us gift boxes for our models.
Sophie was behind the Camera, Max was in charge of filming and we also had the help of Pauline , who assisted us throughout the day and took some behind the scenes pictures.
